Another month, another marketing update for November 2022. In this series, we hope to bring to your attention to the top marketing trends, updates, and takeaways that are happening now! Here are the trending topics we discuss in this month’s blog:
TikTok is Getting Banned??
The FCC Commissioner’s ban on TikTok is real…ly being talked about. Commissioner Carr expressed concerns that U.S. user data is being accessed in China (TikTok is based in China), and called on Google and Apple to ban the app. But Carr doesn’t have the power to ban TikTok since the FCC doesn’t regulate app stores.
When it comes down to it, we don’t think TikTok will be banned: it’s ridiculously popular, and there isn’t an obvious way to actually ban it. But the government may try to make TikTok’s life harder.
Twitter is Changing; What Does it Mean for Advertisers?
Twitter is changing faster than we can say, “Elon Musk did what??”. Many advertisers are pausing Twitter buys because it’s impossible to know how things will go. Twitter may remain a good platform for cultivating a strong brand identity, but advertising on it may not be so fruitful.
We can’t recommend anything for sure at this point, but this is a good reminder to diversify your marketing efforts across platforms. Need help with your digital marketing strategy? Drop us a line! Just don’t tweet at us…
