Let’s Start From the Top – Benefits of Social Media

Social media is one of thee most powerful tools that businesses has outside of word of mouth but (and that’s a big but) it has to be used appropriately. We’ve watched social media make and break brands because of a funny viral video or ill timed post.

A recent study showed that 10% of businesses that use TikTok go viral. Going viral can blow your business up overnight! One post with 1.2M views can bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue in one day!

Not only can social media drastically effect your bottom line, but it’s the best way to connect with your current and future customers. Connecting with your audience and showing your core values as a business is a surefire way to build trust and keep customers coming back for years!

Social Media Strategies Made Simple

Just as your business is one-of-a-kind, your social media strategy should be too. It should align with your goals – because at the end of the day, if you’re not hitting your goals, your social media strategy needs some love. Here at Mountain Mojo Group, we’ve got the skills and enthusiasm to boost your business and set you apart from the competition. Our team is made up of creative minds who love thinking outside the box. We can support you in your journey to create and implement a social media strategy that’ll blow your goals out of the water.

Here are Some Benefits of Utilizing Social Media:

Let’s talk about what a social media marketing strategy is and why it’s so important for your business. (Here is a little hint: It doesn’t have to be complicated to be successful!)

Social media can:

Humanize your brand: is a business’s overall game plan to facilitate the buying and selling its products or services. A marketing strategy determines how to reach prospective consumers and turn them into customers – but more importantly, repeat customers.

Stay top of mind: social media will keep your brand at the top of mind. When you post 2-3 times a week with content that connects directly with your audience, you’ll remind them that you exist and that they might want to buy something from your shop or site!

Increase website traffic: with staying top of mind, comes increasing website traffic and bringing more eyes to your online store. If you don’t have a website and eCommerce, we highly recommend that you look into getting one started (another powerful tool to add to your marketing toolbox!)

Generate leads: What business doesn’t like adding more leads to the pipeline? Once you’re able to connect and humanize your brand and relate to your customers, you’ll have just another opportunity to gain their trust and add them to your funnel.

Social Ads & Retargeting: When you utilize social media, you also have the opportunity to run social ads or retargeting campaigns. The average return on investment for social ads is 9.21% – so, for every dollar you spend you, on average, should earn $9.21 in return. Talk about a money-making machine!

Social media metrics

Social Media Metrics to Track

Our clients often ask us how we know when social media is effective. This is where tracking metrics come in handy. They can help you distinguish what’s working and not working on social media.

One myth we should dispel from the get-go is that likes and followers are a good indicator of success. Those are what we call vanity metrics. Likes and follows don’t necessarily mean that you’re bringing in leads. People might like your content, but if it doesn’t have a CTA (call to action) and people aren’t taking ads on your social media, then the metrics make your brand look good but aren’t really doing anything for you.

Here are some metrics that will actually make a difference in your marketing:

For organic ads, you’ll want to pay attention to:

CTR (Click Through Rate) – is a metric that measures the percentage of people who click on a specific link compared to the number of times that link is shown. The higher the CTR, the better people respond to your social posts and take action.

Impressions – the number of times that people see your social post. The more impressions, the more times that people have seen your social media post show up in their feeds. When your social posts get the attention of 500+ people, that’s 500 eyeballs that didn’t previously see your posts!

Clicks – the number of times that people click on a link that you included in the social media caption. These clicks are called CTA’s, and you’re driving more traffic to your website, eCommerce site, or blog post to learn more. Clicks make a big difference!

Shares – when people like your post enough to share it with their friends and family, you know you’re on the right track. Shares can get you in front of thousands of people who aren’t in your direct audience and can increase the number of eyeballs on your content.

For paid ads, you’ll want to pay attention to:

CPC – is a measurement of the money you pay when a consumer clicks your ads. Having a low cost per click means that you’re running effective ads. We always recommend that you look at industry averages for your specific industry to have a good benchmark of what to aim for.

Conversion Rate – is a marketing metric that measures the effectiveness of a website, app, or other digital format in converting visitors into customers. It’s calculated as a percentage by dividing the number of conversions by the total number of visitors or sessions. For example, if an eCommerce site has 50 sales out of 200 visitors in a month, the conversion rate would be 25%.

Clicks – Again, clicks are a good indicator of ads that are effective and driving action beyond looking at or liking a post and just giving you vanity metrics.

Mojo’s Tips for Successful Social Media Marketing Campaigns

The world of social media is always coming up with something new, whether it’s a new algorithm or a new trend to jump on, it’s important to stay up to date and follow a clear plan. Check out this list of social media marketing tactics to keep in mind to implement when it comes to building a social media marketing strategy for your business:

Know Your Audience

Knowing your audience to the level that you know your best friend is one of the best tips that we can give you. What do they do in their free time? Do they have kids? What’s their annual salary? Creating a clear identity around your ideal audience (start with one, and you can expand from there) will help you craft social media posts that connect with your audience and make them take action.

Create a Social Media Marketing Strategy

When it comes to your social media strategy, you’ll want to think about 7-10 different posts that you can create monthly that align with your overall business goals and connect with your target audience. Some topic ideas are:

  • Behind the scenes
  • Video of product or service in action
  • Highlight customer reviews
  • Introduce your team
  • Run a giveaway
  • Share a new blog post
  • Helpful tips in your industry
  • So much more!

Be Consistent

Posting consistently will be your best friend when it comes to staying in the good graces of the algorithm gods. We recommend posting 2-3 times a week and maintaining that consistency. Posting more could annoy your followers, and you have a higher chance of them unfollowing you. Posting too little will confuse the social media algorithm, and the social media platform won’t show your post to as many people.

Align Your Post to Business Goals

When creating social media posts, always keep your business goals in mind! Are you looking to bring in more leads? Then, include more calls to action in your posts. Are you looking to connect with your audience? Then, showcase more behind-the-scenes posts that show who you are. Goals will keep your content consistent and make it easier for your audience to follow along in your journey.

Follow Social Media Trends

Staying up to date on trends can be a full-time job; almost every day, a new social media trend takes hold, and everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. We will never encourage you to jump on all the trends but think outside the box about trends that you can jump on and use the momentum to grow your audience and increase traction for your social media profiles (and ultimately your bottom line).

Stay Up to Date on Algorithm Changes

This can also be a full time job (and a frustrating one, at that!) Keeping in mind any algorithm changes and trying to adapt as they come along will save you some heartache and help you increase traffic and impressions. The algorithm will always reward good behavior.
