What Are Google Ads & Why Do I Need Them?

Before we tell you about the importance of Google Ads – we have to start at the beginning! Google Ads is Google’s online advertising platform that allows businesses to create and display ads on Google’s search engine results pages and across its network of partner websites. These ads can appear in various formats, including text, display, video, and shopping ads, and are displayed to users based on their search queries and browsing behavior. Google Ads operates on a pay-per-click (PPC) model, meaning you only pay when users click on your ads.

Just as your business is one-of-a-kind, your marketing strategy should be too. Google Ads are a piece of the marketing puzzle for your business. Immediate Visibility: With Google Ads, businesses can quickly appear at the top of Google’s search results for relevant keywords, gaining instant visibility and driving qualified traffic to their website.

Measurable Results: Google Ads provides robust analytics and tracking tools, allowing businesses to measure the performance of their campaigns in real-time and make data-driven optimizations to improve ROI.

Cost-Effective Advertising: Google Ads operates on a pay-per-click (PPC) model, meaning businesses only pay when users click on their ads, making it a cost-effective advertising solution for businesses of all sizes.

Flexible Budgeting: Google Ads allows businesses to set their own budget and adjust it as needed, giving them full control over their advertising spend and allowing them to scale their campaigns based on performance.

Enhanced Brand Awareness: By appearing at the top of Google’s search results and across its network of partner websites, Google Ads helps businesses increase their brand visibility and reach a wider audience.

Now that we know what Google Ads are, let’s talk about how your business can benefit from Google Ads – especially if you operate out of a brick-and-mortar!

What Google Ads Can Do For Your Business

For businesses, Google Ads offers an opportunity to reach a specific and targeted audience when they are actively searching for products or services relevant to your business. Unlike traditional advertising methods, Google Ads allows businesses to target specific keywords, demographics, locations, and interests, ensuring their ads are seen by users most likely to be interested in what your business offers. This approach increases the effectiveness of advertising campaigns and helps businesses maximize their return on investment (ROI) by minimizing wasted ad spending on an audience who isn’t your target audience.

Consumers rely heavily on search engines to find information and make purchasing decisions in today’s digital landscape. Having a presence on Google Ads has become essential for businesses looking to stay competitive and grow their online visibility.

Leveraging the power of Google Ads, businesses can increase their brand awareness, drive qualified traffic to their website, generate leads, and ultimately boost sales and revenue. Whether they’re a small local business or a large multinational corporation, Google Ads provide businesses of all sizes and industries with a powerful and cost-effective way to connect with potential customers and achieve their marketing objectives.

Maximizing ROAs

Maximizing ROAs

Maximizing ROAS (Return on Advertising Spend) for Google Ads involves a combination of strategic planning, optimization, and continuous monitoring. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help businesses achieve the highest ROAS possible:

1. Know Your Industry: Every industry has its own unique averages – for example, the average cost per click for lawyers or legal services is approximately $8.67, whereas for companies that focus on travel, it’s as low as $1.40 per click. When you understand your industry, you will know when your metrics are hitting the mark or if they need some love to hit average industry standards or better!

2. Set a Budget: Set a realistic budget for your Google Ads campaigns, keeping in mind that even a modest budget, such as $200 per month, can bring in several dozen qualified leads per month. Starting with a small budget might be a good start – once you optimize your campaigns and know they’re working, you can increase the budget and continue to see those qualified leads come in!

3. Understand Your Audience: You know your business better than anyone else! But the question is, do you know your audience? I bet you do! Do you know if they walk into your hardware store and pick up a hammer or nails during business hours that they’re twice as likely to pick up a Milky Way at the cash register? This kind of detail and knowing your audience on this level will help to tailor your ad messaging, targeting parameters, and bidding strategies to resonate with your audience and drive higher conversions.

4. Set Up Targeting Parameters: Utilize Google Ads’ advanced targeting options to reach your ideal audience exactly when they’re looking. You can set parameters based on things like location, device, language, demographics, and interests to ensure your ads are displayed to the most relevant users who are likely to convert.

5. Craft Compelling Ad Copy: Write engaging ad copy that catches your target audience and highlights the unique selling propositions (USPs) of your products or services. The most important step of the copy is to encourage users to take action. Use compelling calls-to-action (CTAs), relevant keywords, and ad extensions to enhance the visibility and effectiveness of your ads.

6. Optimize Landing Pages: Don’t forget that your Google Ad experience doesn’t stop once they click! Take a peek at your landing pages and optimize them so that they align with your ad messaging and provide a seamless user experience. Also be sure that your landing pages are mobile-friendly, fast-loading, and feature clear and concise content, compelling visuals, and prominent CTAs to maximize conversions.

7. Implement Conversion Tracking: One of the most important steps to your Google Ad is being able to track conversions! You want to know what your ROI is, right? Well, conversion tracking using Google Tags is the way to know how many people are converting when they click on your ad, the average time they spend on a page, and so many other helpful statistics! Conversions can look like form submissions, purchases, phone calls, and app downloads to assess the effectiveness of your campaigns and optimize for higher ROAs.

8. Monitor and Adjust Campaign Performance: We recommend monitoring your Google Ads once a week to make sure that they’re running effectively. Take a look at analytics and reporting tools to keep track of how well your ads are performing. It’s a good indicator of if you need to change something back or if you’re headed in the right direction with your ads!

You’ll want to take a peek at these analytics: click-through rate (CTR), conversion rate, cost per conversion, and ROAS to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven adjustments to optimize campaign performance and maximize ROAS over time.
