Initial Contact With Your Web Design Team
The first thing we do is have a meeting with you! This has two primary purposes. First, we want to introduce you to the team you will be working with: your project manager and your web developer(s). The project manager will be your primary point of contact and will guide you through the whole process. Your web development team will build your website from the ground up. Secondly, the meeting, which we call “Kick-Off Meeting,” is to really get to know you, your business, and your customers. This way we can better understand your needs as a business owner as well as your customers’ needs. We then provide user experience recommendations for your website that support your day-to-day business operations.
Your Website Map and Structure With Mojo
After our initial meeting we will create a sitemap for you. A sitemap is a visual representation of the structure of your website so that we are on the same page about goals, user experience, content & more before building out the entire website. This document will resemble your top navigation menu. This will give you a good idea of what actions we are encouraging the most for your website users to complete and what information we want to make sure they have access to.
The Website Design Process With Mojo
During our first meeting, we will not only talk through the user experience and features of your new website but also the design! We will go over websites you like, websites you don’t like, and any fun interactive features you would like to include. From there, your web developer will take the inspiration from the meeting and create the first draft of your website. The first draft will be focused on functionality and design. This draft will be completely interactive and you will be able to access the link to view it at home.
Once that draft is done you will let us know your thoughts about the fonts, colors & overall feel of the website. We typically keep your colors on-brand with your logo, but besides that, let our creative juices flow (unless you have a specific vision)! So, this is our chance to check in with you and make sure we are on the right track.
At this point we do not ask for any images or written content from you, However, if you happen to have images you like, written content we could use, etc. it’s always easier to give you a draft that feels like your brand when we can sprinkle those elements in! When we don’t have content we use filler text called Lorem Ipsum to show you how paragraphs will look on the page. This text is a mix of many languages and is nonsense but from a glance mimics a written paragraph.
Your Websites Content With Mojo
For your second draft we add in your content. This is text, images & any links like your social media. When we add your images we make sure to resize them to be as small as possible while keeping high enough quality in the images to make sure your website looks professional. We do this to make sure your pages load quicker for a better user experience and increased search engine optimization.
Your written text will be the content that replaces the Lorem Ipsum on your first draft website. We have an easy process so you know exactly what you need to send us, where it will go on your website, and what it should be about. We do offer copywriting services if you don’t feel comfortable writing your own text, or simply don’t have the time for it. When we write the content for you, we make sure to optimize all of it for SEO (search engine optimization) to help you rank higher organically for Google and reach more users!
Your Website Launch With Mojo
Once your website has all the content and final edits are made we are ready for launch! There are two main elements of a website launch: website hosting and DNS records.
Website hosting is where your website files live. At Mojo we provide hosting for our clients on wpengine. You are welcome to choose another hosting provider if requested but typically we recommend finding one that has enough space for your website to grow, security to protect it & the ability to back up your website every day. When hosting with Mojo we take out all of the guesswork and not only provide a robust and secure platform setup, but also monitor your website monthly for any issues and keep everything up to date. We are also only a phone call or email away as compared to other hosting providers that you need to get on a customer service chat or worse, you only have access to help articles to troubleshoot.
When you are all set up on a hosting platform, we then need to make sure your DNS records are all set up. To start we work with you to make sure you have purchased a domain name like our mountainmojogroup.com. Once purchased, we will login (typically requiring a verification code to be sent to your phone) and make sure that your new domain name is connected to your brand new website! Once we have edited your DNS records to do this, it takes between 24-48 hours for these changes to be seen everywhere but if you open an incognito window you should be able to see the change within a few hours. And that’s it! Your website will be live and ready for your customers.
Your Website Analytics and Conversion Tracking With Mojo
Every website we create we add a Google Tag Manager account, Google Analytics & Google Search Console. This way you have peace of mind that from the moment your website is live, there is data being collected to help you optimize your site. If you already have an Analytics account we make sure during our launch process to switch that over to the new site so it does not miss a beat!
If you decide to stay longer with Mojo in the form of a retainer we can help you create conversion tracking as well. This means that we will set up tracking for specific user actions (button clicks, form submissions, purchases, etc.) so that you can have even more insight into what is happening on your website! Once we have conversion tracking in place we can use it for enhancing our other services including our SEO, PPC (pay per click advertising) & more.
Your Website Backups and Security With Mojo
If you choose to host your website with Mojo we make sure that you are set up with daily backups, an SSL certificate & monitor your website each month. We build our websites on WordPress and make sure that all plugins & themes stay up to date so that your website is safe and functioning how it is supposed to.
Our daily backups ensure that you can have confidence in editing your own website because no matter what, there is always a way to restore your website to a functioning version should anything break by accident.
Unlike other hosting companies we have a direct number to call if you have any questions as well as team members watching out for your website through updates, form testing & more. We make sure not only your website is up to date, but the PHP & core files as well. This way any issues that pop up are caught quickly and handled without any downtime for your website.
